| dc.description.abstract | Metal–polymer nanocomposites have gained immense attention due to their multifunctional applications, phenomenal physicochemical properties, and wide range of applications in different diseases including cancers. Nanocomposites were able to maintain the properties of all individual components intact. In addition, at times nanocomposites demonstrated interesting newer properties than individual components. In this current book chapter, we focus on the advancements and applications of the different metal–polymer nanocomposites, discuss their synthesis and characterizations, clinical studies, challenges, and future translational opportunities. A detailed literature survey is provided to give comprehensive examples of these metal–polymer nanocomposites for diagnosis and phototherapy applications. Additionally, the limitations of these nanocomposites were discussed with a possible view of clinical translations in the near future. We believe that this detailed book chapter will be helpful to a diverse range of authors to learn about metal–polymer composites and their biomedical applications. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd.
