| dc.description.abstract | In this article, a novel design of ultrawideband (UWB) microstrip monopole antenna is presented. The proposed design consists of a coplanar wave guide feed, B-shaped radiator, and an open slot ground plane. In this design, the higher resonant and lower resonant bands are mainly excited by B-shaped radiator and open slot ground plane, respectively. The proposed compact antenna shows a measured fractional bandwidth of 124% (2.7-11.5 GHz) which clearly covers entire UWB band defined from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. The antenna has almost constant gain, group delay, and stable radiation pattern over the operating frequency from 2.7 to 11.5 GHz. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. | |
