Solubility of Benzoic Acid in Aqueous Polymeric Solutions

Abstract

Solubility of benzoic acid In dletHled water and aqueous solutions of poly(vlnyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(vlnylpyrrolldone) (PVP) containing 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, and 6.0% polymer by weight has been determined In the temperature range of 30-55 °C. It has been observed that, at any given temperature, the solubility In polymer solution Is more than that In water, Increases with Increasing polymer concentration, and approaches a constant value at higher concentrations. © 1981, American Chemical Society.
