Abstract

The thesis entitled “In silico Study, Synthesis and Biological Screening of Some Novel Curcumin” submitted for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) contains the research work carried out during the period of July 2010 to October 2015, at the Department of Pharmaceutics, Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Sushil Kumar Singh. This thesis contains an introduction, a literature review, detailed procedures for the synthesis of designed compounds, and their characterization by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. Biological evaluation includes antimicrobial and antimalarial activities of the compounds. The antimicrobial results were presented with MIC values.
