A nano ceramic composite with composition 0.5BaTiO3and 0.5Bi2/3Cu3Ti4O12(BTO-BCTO) was synthesized using a solid state method. Microstructural details were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the existence of both the phases BTO and BCTO. Average crystallite sizes obtained by XRD analysis were found to be around 45±16 nm. The sample sintered at 950 °C for 12 h exhibited very high dielectric constant (ɛr = 43459) at 100 Hz and at room temperature. The presence of semiconducting grains with insulating grain boundaries significantly attributes to such a high dielectric constant value, supporting the internal barrier layer capacitance (IBLC) mechanism operative in (BTO-BCTO) composite. © 2016, ICE Publishing.
