Ultrasonic determination of lay-up order in cross-plied cfrp

Abstract

An ultrasonic technique for determining the lay-up order in cross-plied cfrp laminates is described. Tests were conducted on a number of commercial laminates having different lay-up orders and the results obtained are presented; these were in broad agreement with the theoretical predictions. It is suggested that the technique could be developed for detecting fibre-wash in cfrp laminates. © 1977.
