| dc.description.abstract | In this paper, design of a microstrip slot antenna for hyperthermia application is presented. A simple 50-ω microstrip line is used to excite the proposed antenna. The antenna input reflection coefficient, Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) distribution in the phantom muscle medium and the related parameters viz. penetration depth and Effective Field Size (EFS) were determined at 2.45 GHz. Further, the results obtained using the proposed antenna is compared with those determined using conventional patch antenna. The results indicate that the proposed antenna provides higher penetration depth and smaller EFS over the conventional patch antenna. In addition, the proposed antenna is compact and its behavior is more stable in terms of frequency with change in dielectric properties of muscle medium as compared with the conventional patch antenna. © 2015 IEEE. | |
