Pharmacognostic studies on the stem of alternanthera sessilis R.BR

Abstract

Pharmacognostic studies on the stem of Alternanthera sessilis R.Br, have been carried out along with fluorescence characteristics and ash and extractive values. The young stem shows 10-14 fine grooves, two opposite lines of hairs and collenchyma under each ridge. It shows anomalous growth represented by 2-3 discontinuous annular rings, each ring being composed of numerous collateral vascular bundles joined together by fibrous elements. © 1986 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted.
