This paper presents an analysis of a 100 kWp Grid Connected Two-Stage Solar PV System (GC-TS-SPS) in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Solar photovoltaic system (SPS) based distributed energy sources are increasing at large in the grid. Power system dynamics play a very crucial role in enabling the effective integration of such intermittent sources. The performance of the GC-TS-SPS is analysed under different Grid operational scenarios caused due to the occurrence of short circuit faults in the network. Both symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults are considered, and their impact on the component of the solar power system is analysed with varying fault locations. This analysis may be used to design the control and protection of SPS ensuring reliable Grid connectivity and PV module design. © 2020 IEEE.
