Abstract
To study the fracture behaviour under repeated impact loads, a series of tests are conducted by using commercial aluminium as an experimental material. The size and shape of cracks in repeated impact are obtained from fractographic observation. A crack growth model is proposed which is based on the assumption of Irwin type plastic zone. A relation between crack length and number of impacts is obtained which is found to be in good agreement with the experimental results. © 1988.
