Abstract
Aim of this article is to reduce the common mode voltage (CMV) in quasi z source ultra sparse matrix converters (QZS-USMC). One of the major mitigation of the ultra sparse matrix converter (USMC) is voltage gain. Conventional USMC has a maximum voltage gain ratio of 0.866. The voltage gain of the USMC can be increased by inserting an impedance network into USMC but at the same time, the CMV of the USMC is also increased. Higher magnitude of CMV results in leakage current, which damages the insulation hence reduction of CMV is necessary. The proposed converter offers reduced CMV with enhanced modulation index range and then boosting factor range. Compared to recently reported USMC control strategies, the proposed converter magnify the modulation index range. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter. © 2022 IEEE.
