Abstract
Event-triggered communication is often desired in a networked control system to reduce the high-rate of data transfer through the network. This work employs event-triggering in both the feedback and forward channels yet retaining the closed-loop control performances through predictive control. The predictive controller not only takes care of the information loss due to the event-triggering but also the delays and packet dropouts caused by the communication network. A comparison of the effect of using event-triggering in the feedback channel alone and using event-triggering in both the feedback and forward channels is presented that shows to yield comparable performances even though event-triggering is used in both the channels. © 2023 European Control Association
