Abstract
Mycobacterium tuberculosisMycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tb) is responsible for the infectious illness tuberculosis (TB), which has a very high mortalityMortality rate of around 1.5 million people worldwide annually. The rise of antibioticAntibiotics resistance, primarily due to M. tb strain mutation, is the biggest concern of the day. The M. tb energeticsEnergetics that involve both substrate and oxidative phosphorylationsPhosphorylation are essential for the survivalSurvival of the bacilliBacilli during extreme conditions. The combination of dehydrogenasesDehydrogenaseand oxidasesOxidase constitutes the electron transport chain (ETC). In this chapter, we have expounded on the significance of different enzymesEnzyme involved in energyEnergypathwaysPathway. Further, the machinery involved in oxidative phosphorylationPhosphorylation as a therapeutic target has been explored. The major classes of inhibitorsInhibitor targeting oxidative phosphorylationPhosphorylation are also discussed.
