Abstract

In this paper, a new slope regulator-based advance angle control technique is used to reduce commutation torque ripples for six-step inverter fed high-speed Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive without sacrificing the optimal output power of the motor. Analytic study of torque ripple in high-speed operation is carried out with the help of the equivalent circuit. This technique can be classified as an extended version of conventional pwm technique. The proposed slope regulator can generate duty cycles independent of motor parameters. This idea is implemented with phase advancing for further better ripple rejection and obtaining higher output power. A closed-loop automatic pulse generation system for proposed slope regulator technique is discussed in this paper. The reduction in torque ripple is found satisfactory near maximum operating speed. Finally, the validation of this new technique to reduce torque ripple is verified by simulation. © 2022 IEEE.
