Reaction kinetics of enzymatic hydrolysis of wheat straw a its utilization as a potential substrate for the cellulolytic enzyme and biofuel and production

Abstract

Development of biofuel represents a defendable option instead of fossil fuel in the transport sector. Wheat straw is an attractive lignocellulose containing biomass for biofuel generation because of its cheaper cost and consistent availability; also it contains of appropriate quantity of cellulose, lignin, and hemicellulose. Many lignocellulolytic enzymes play very crucial part in the enzyme based hydrolysis of cellulosic biomass. Different cellulolytic enzymes are produced by several microorganisms using wheat as a potential substrate for enzymatic hydrolysis. Major disbenefit of biofuel and enzymes generation from wheat straw (WS) is that pretreatment operation of raw sample is the most expensive. This chapter involves the discussion of the enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass and enzyme production using WS as potential substrate. Also the analysis of different kinetic models of enzymatic hydrolysis has been discussed. © 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
