Urban heat island (UHI) is referred to the urban areas with temperatures higher than the neighbouring suburban or rural areas. The LST-NDVI relation shows negative relation in agricultural region but the relation may vary in heterogeneous urban areas. The day and night LST map was obtained for summer, winter and post-monsoon season and found that UHI effect was significant during night time over the seasons. The day LST shows UHI effect only during winter season. The present study focuses on the relation of LST with NDVI for both day and night time during winter, summer and post-monsoon seasons. The relation of day LST with NDVI was found nonlinear for summer and monsoon season whereas good negative linear relation was observed for winter (R2= 0.88). The night LST shows negative relation with NDVI in the three seasons but very good correlation was observed in winter (R2= 0.92). Therefore, the relation of LST with NDVI show negative relation when UHI effect was observed. © 2020 Indian Radio Science Society.
