Hyperthermia performance of conformal applicator for limb tumor in presence of water bolus
Abstract
This paper examines the influence of water bolus coupling layer on the specific absorption rate and temperature distributions respectively in the tissue during hyperthermia treatment of human limb tumor using a previously reported microstrip slot antenna integrated with a compact artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) reflector at 2.45 GHz. The simulation study reveals the effectiveness of the antenna-AMC combination for hyperthermia treatment of arm and thigh tumors. Further, the results indicate that during treatment, hotspot in the skin can be reduced by optimizing water bolus temperature. © 2017 IEEE.
