The paper discusses EM wave propagation through a chirofibre in which the core as well as the cladding are chiral materials of different constitutions. The general eigenvalue equation is derived and solved numerically for the lowest polar variation index v (=0). It is observed that with increasing chiral admittance in the core the number of propagating modes decreases for a certain parameter denoted by V. The local behaviour of the dispersion curve is of a fluctuating nature. For a given core chiral admittance, there is a critical value of the relative permittivity below which propagation is forbidden. © 1995.
