| dc.description.abstract | This letter reports the results of the study of optimal control of transients in a power system through excitation control by the new approach of bang-bang insertion of capacitance in the field circuit along with the optimal and suboptimal linear feedback controls. This method provides improved system performance for small as well as large disturbances. The method is simple and practically feasible for implementation.
