This work presents an effective method for enhancing the bandwidth and gain of a printed dipole antenna by employing a 1-bit reflectarray. The dipole antenna (Antenna 1) has a bandwidth of 4.6 GHz, covering the range from 4.01 GHz to 5.41 GHz, and a gain of 2.6 dBi. Three circular radiators were placed at the bottom of the substrate of the printed dipole antenna to enhance both gain and bandwidth. In addition, two resonances were generated in the X-band at 8.4 GHz and 10.6 GHz. A bandwidth of 3.7 GHz was obtained over a range from 7.2 GHz to 10.9 GHz, while the lower resonance frequency shifted from 4.6 GHz to 4.69 GHz, with a bandwidth of 4.3 GHz to 5.1 GHz and a gain of 3.1 dBi. The 16×16 element 1-Bit Reflectarray antenna was illuminated to enhance the gain from 3.1 dBi to 25.1 dBi for X-band applications. The cross-polarization level of the proposed Reflectarray was -22 dB. © 2024 IEEE.
