In recent years, there has been growing concern about the increasing contamination of water bodies due to wastewater discharge from industries, agriculture, and domestic sources. Wastewater treatment is an important aspect of environmental protection and public health. The increasing demand for clean water has led to the development of innovative oxidation technologies for wastewater treatment. The need for effective and sustainable wastewater treatment technologies has become more crucial than ever before. This chapter provides an overview of innovative oxidation technologies for wastewater treatment. The focus is on Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) such as Ozonation, Fenton’s reagent, Non-Thermal Plasma, and Photocatalysis. Non-thermal plasma is a promising technology for the degradation of pollutants in wastewater due to its high reactivity and selectivity. The oxidation potential of hydroxyl radicals (2.8 V) in AOPs plays a crucial role in degrading pollutants, achieving degradation percentages ranging from 70-90 percent. This chapter presents a comprehensive comparison of these technologies, highlighting their advantages and limitations. The prospects and challenges for the development and implementation of innovative oxidation technologies for wastewater treatment are also discussed. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Pervez Alam, Afzal Husain Khan, Juliana Heloisa Pinê Américo-Pinheiro, and Kafeel Ahmad.
