Ultrafast switching property in one dimensional defect photonic crystals

dc.description.abstractWe present the ultrafast switching property in one dimensional defect photonic crystals theoretically, owing the mechanism of transmittance. By analyzing the transmittance of electromagnetic waves through the defect photonic crystal with the help of simple transfer matrix method, it is found that the defect layer in the photonic crystal can be induced the localized modes in the form of sharp transmission peak inside the photonic band gap. The number of transmission peaks can be tuned by changing the thickness of the defect layers.
