The reliability assessment of distribution systems integrated with renewable energy systems (RES) ensures systems’ stable and efficient operation. Integrating RESs, such as solar, wind, and battery-operated electric vehicle power, into distribution systems introduces new challenges due to these energy sources’ intermittent and uncertain nature. Various approaches and methods are available in the literature for assessing the reliability of distribution systems. The choice of approach or method depends on the specific characteristics of the distribution system, the types of RESs involved, the desired reliability targets, and the available data. Integrating RESs into the power grid requires a comprehensive understanding of their impact on system reliability. The methods, such as probabilistic methods, reliability indices, RES integration, etc., provide a toolkit to address this challenge. In this context, the chapter covers multiple approaches and methods available in the literature for evaluating the reliability of power distribution systems that incorporate RESs. © 2024 by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
