The present study discusses the soldier piling method for retaining earth for excavations of foundation in soil. The 2D finite element methods have been used to model and simulate the excavation support system using the soldier piling method. Bending moment, shear forces, axial forces and displacement have been calculated on the liner interface after excavation. Axial force, bolt shear force, and bolt displacement have been calculated and analysed on end-anchored bolts. Sensitivity analysis has been performed to study the effect of the change in the input material properties of the soil layers and the bolt properties on the excavation support system. These properties were further classified into the most significant, slight, and least important with respect to their effect on the excavation support system. © The Institution of Engineers (India) 2023.
