Abstract

This paper presents the magnetic field analysis of a dual-rotor type Hybrid Permanent Magnet Induction Machine (PMIM) using Finite Element Method (FEM) based software. Various possible topologies of the machine are discussed and analyzed using Ansys Maxwell software and then compared with a conventional Squirrel Cage Induction Machine (SCIM). The machine is in its preliminary stage of development and proper design method for such machine is not available. The objective of this paper is to obtain magnetic field distribution in various parts of the machine for some assumed machine specifications and then suggest design modifications for each topology of the said machine so as to achieve the optimal flux density distribution within it from the point of view of minimizing core saturation and losses. © 2016 IEEE.
