Abstract

Green supply chain management (GSCM) and green manufacturing (GM) are emerging disciplines of production and operations management that focus on environmental aspects in the manufacturing and supply chain processes. For the plastic industry also, previous literature has proved a good scope in reducing the environmental impacts by greening the production and supply chain activities. The chapter provides a systematic review of GSCM and GM implementation in the plastic industry, addressing the past research work published. This chapter aims at reviewing the significant literature work available in the different application fields of GSCM and GM applied in the plastic industry for plastic production and supply chain. The chapter also provides a bibliometric study by collecting data from the Scopus database for the past 21 years (2000–2020). In the bibliometric study, the chapter addresses different issues, which include distribution of literature on various applications, contributions of different countries in the literature, growth of literature with respect to time, most cited articles, and other qualitative insights in the areas of GSCM and GM in the plastic industry. The chapter will be constructive for researchers and academicians who are working in the area of environmental management in plastic manufacturing and supply chain. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
