Effect of collisional models on the dispersion properties of electromagnetic waves

Abstract

Following Van Kampen technique the dispersion equations for high-frequency electromagnetic waves have been derived for two collisional models. The indices of refraction and absorption have been computed. It is shown that the maximum change in the dispersion feature results in the vicinity of ω p 2 /ω2=1. © 1975 Società Italiana di Fisica.
