Abstract

While in nature the expansion of complex tissues is gradually influenced by the prolonged process of development in tissue engineering (TE), the active modification and regulation of the microcellular environment plays a key role in the formation of complex tissues in vitro. It is not remarkable that the discipline of TE has benefited greatly since the developments in both nano- and microfabrication. With an important structural component in the array of 1-100nm and categorized by acquiring regulators at the molecular, supramolecular, and atomic levels, nanotechnology enables the development of new resources and devices. When a substance is shrunk down to the nanoscale variety, its physiochemical characteristics, like crystallinity, reactivity, and solubility, frequently alter. For cutting-edge biomedical technologies like scaffolding and tissue regeneration, this chapter discusses the convergence of recent investigative findings at the intersection of tissue engineering and nanostructured biomaterials. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd.
