Abstract

Solar systems have grown in popularity in electric power networks due to their environmental benefits. Solar cells, high-power switching circuits, power electronics converters, and other components usually make up photovoltaic systems. These components, particularly power electronics components, are critical in power generation technologies and the analysis of PV system reliability. Since the weather conditions are not consistent all of the time, the PV systems output power is variable. Different solar topologies are applied in PV systems to maximize the output. These different topologies are Central-Inverter, String-Inverter, and Micro-Inverter. A number of criteria are used to analyze the failure rate of power electronic parts within those various PV topologies. This study aims to determine these topologies reliability functions, cumulative distribution functions, and probability density functions at junction temperature of 25, 50, and 75°C. © 2024 by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
