A compact CPW-fed circle inscribed hexagonal super wideband fractal antenna is presented. The radiating patch comprises three iterations of hexagonal patch loaded with circular slots. An impedance bandwidth of 2.75–71 GHz, that is, a bandwidth ratio of 25.82:1 is achieved by using asymmetric coplanar waveguide feeding and three iterations of circular slot loaded hexagonal radiating patch. Relatively stable omni-directional radiation patterns are achieved over the operating frequency band. A good agreement is found between the simulated and experimental. The designed antenna has advantages of miniaturized size and wider bandwidth over the previously reported structures. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
