dc.description.abstractCeramic matrix composites (CMCs) are an exceptionally potential class of materials with unique characteristics for use in high-temperature applications in the energy, aerospace, automotive sectors, and so on. This chapter provides a comprehensive review on the advanced manufacturing processes utilized in the fabrication of CMCs, with an emphasis on their unique advantages and challenges. Numerous processing techniques are described in the text, such as sol–gel, laser-based, liquid precursor infiltration, chemical vapor infiltration, polymer impregnation, and pyrolysis. Additionally, it elucidates the benefits and drawbacks associated with each process. Furthermore, this research examines the advancement of additive manufacturing methodologies toward CMCs, thereby yielding significant insights into their capacity to fabricate elaborate geometries and enhance overall functionality. Furthermore, the principal challenges associated with the production of CMCs, including issues pertaining to the variability of processing, interfacial bonding, and cost-effectiveness, are discussed. Approaches suggested to address these challenges encompass advancements in material formulation, optimization of processes, and quality assurance.
