Abstract

Phase transfer catalysis (PTC) is a versatile technique that has gained significant attention in organic synthesis. The use of suitable catalysts is crucial for effective PTC reactions, and in recent years, MXenes have emerged as a promising class of materials for this purpose. MXenes are two-dimensional transition metal carbides or nitrides with unique surface properties that make them excellent candidates for catalytic applications. This chapter provides an overview of the utilization of MXenes in PTC reactions, highlighting their synthesis, surface modification, and catalytic performance. Several examples of MXene-based catalysts in various PTC reactions are discussed to demonstrate their potential in this field. © 2024 by Elsevier Inc.
