Abstract

With a rapid rise in development of the countries there is a growing concern for public safety. There is an indispensable need of detection of global disasters like Tsunami, volcano and wave and tide gauging in order to save life and property. The latest technology used in tsunameters for real time detection is broadband quartz pressure sensors, which rely on accuracy of pressure measurement. The novel technique proposed here is the use of pyroelectricity for low pressure measurement. The temperature and pressure relationship of a gaseous material is used to implement pressure measurement. A set-up is maintained which ensures maximum pressure transfer from the surroundings to the gas through the diaphragm. The pyroelectric wall measures the pressure. The retrieval of pressure values by conversion of temperature to pressure value is perceived using gaseous equation of state. All data acquisition is done in NI's LabView Version 10.0. So this method measures pressure indirectly. © 2013 IEEE.
