| dc.description.abstract | This chapter introduces intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) assisted wireless system design and analysis. Recently, IRS has gained significant attention in the field of wireless communications for high energy efficiency (EE) next-generation networks design. IRS-assisted system can overcome path loss and shadowing effects by focusing and redirecting the wireless signals towards the desired receivers. Design and analysis of an IRS-assisted wireless system require a deep understanding of wireless propagation, channel modeling, and optimization techniques. By properly designing the IRS, it is possible to improve the performance of wireless systems and achieve higher data rates, longer coverage, and better reliability. We also consider some IRS-assisted systems’ simulations and their discussions in this chapter with some examples. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Ajay Kumar Vyas, Narendra Khatri and Sunil Kumar Jha; individual chapters, the contributors. | |
