Synthesis of potassium antimony tartrate from the antimony dross of lead smelters
Abstract
Antimony dross containing 8.2% antimony, obtained from the refining section of a lead plant was studied on a bench scale for the recovery of antimony oxide and subsequent synthesis of potassium antimony tartrate (P.A.T.). The dross was leached with hydrochloric acid solution. The filtrate was hydrolysed with water. The antimony oxide precipitate thus obtained was reacted with potassium hydrogen tartrate solution. The studies indicate a recovery of 70% antimony as potassium antimony tartrate. © 1990.
