Abstract

With the increased penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) and modern electronic loads the conventional electrical grid is heavily loaded. To integrate these loads with grid, DC microgrid (DC-μG) provide significant advantages like reduced number of conversion stages and multiple dc voltage levels by virtue of DC-DC converters. Considering the growing need of renewable energy sources and potential advantage of EVs seen as energy storage devices this paper proposes the control strategy for multiple source DC-μG to assist the main grid. A central bidirectional voltage source converter regulates the power flow between the AC and DC sub-grids. The ultimate aim of the control strategy is to maintain a stable common DC bus voltage. The controller performance is validated through MATLAB simulation. © 2023 IEEE.
