Abstract
Joint economic lot sizing (JELS) models aim to minimise the total relevant cost for the integrated supply chain and not for an individual partner. Coordination and information sharing are two critical elements to the success of JELS models. This paper first introduces the JELS model, explains some key factors involved in its initial developments, and then provides the review methodology. This study aims to provide a comprehensive and systematic overview of the JELS literature based on the adopted review methodology. An effort has been made to classify the JELS literature based on various extensions of the JELS models and solution techniques used and also to provide a bibliometric analysis. Exploration of the JELS models in the green supply chain and in deteriorating items are identified as key trends while the issue of profit sharing among the JELS partners is identified as a promising research opportunity. Some other significant findings and future research directions are also suggested. Copyright © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
