Design Demonstration of Frequency Reconfiguration Antenna using Varactor diode with SiO2

dc.description.abstractPresent paper is especially for the analysis of frequency reconfiguration antenna which removes the problem of achieving multifunctional systems using single antenna at different frequency according to user requirements with enhance performance at low volume. At high frequency from millimetre to terahertz range, data rate and efficient systems are the most important part at less transmission loss to get proper wireless communication. In order to use an antenna at different frequencies for a particular frequency band, a Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna design is proposed using dual patch of gold material structure. It uses SiO2 whose dielectric constant 3.6 (60 × 60 μm2) as a substrate with a thickness of 1.575 μm. It uses a coaxial feeding with SMA connector and a metal surface at the back of substrate of the same size which act as a reflector. This reflector is used to increase the gain and other characteristics of the antenna by reducing the surface radiation. A varactor diode is used between two patches as a switch for connecting both the patches. By the variation in the value of capacitor, the three different modes as well as different resonating frequencies at those modes are achieved. It exhibits the VSWR < 2. Structure has been simulated using CST microwave studio commercial software. Structure resonates at three different frequencies which is 5.6 THz, 6.2 THz, and 14.6 THz with a maximum gain of 6.44 dBi, 7.75 dBi, and 8.54 dBi respectively. © 2023 IEEE.
