Operating characteristic of double gap single sided linear induction motor

| dc.description.abstract | Single sided linear induction motor (SLIM) may have double clearance under certain practical conditions. In order to evaluate its performance, a four layer Fourier transform model of SLIM for an infinite depth of back-iron has been developed and the performance has been predicted in Fourier space. The validation of developed model has been done and the effect of additional gap on the performance of SLIM has been investigated. A comparison of their performance characteristics has been reported. It has been found that for a constant magnetic gap, if the additional gap is larger than the permissible limit, it can result in increase in the thrust of the machine. | |
