Abstract
An ultra-wideband terahertz reflective-Type cross polarization converter using parallel metallic strips in terahertz domain is demonstrated in this paper. The proposed structure converts a linearly polarized incident wave to cross polarized in the range of frequency extending from 7.86 THz to 15.20 THz. The polarization conversion ratio in the entire operating band is more than 0.85, while the fractional bandwidth is 63.6% corresponding to the center frequency. Furthermore, to check the robustness of the structure, the polarization conversion rate of the structure is examined by varying the incidence angle for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) case. The structure maintains compactness in periodicity (~λ/6.5) as well as ultrathin (~λ/10.5) in nature. © 2020 Indian Radio Science Society.
