Optimising shovel-truck combination

Abstract

For achieving high production targets, even under difficult field conditions, large capacity shovels are working in conjunction with large capacity trucks in opencast mines. Such large capacity and heavy duty equipment entail high capital investments. Hence, the productivity and performance aspects of such large capacity and heavy duty system need to be monitored and checked scientifically. In this light, the optimisation of shovel-truck combination is absolutely important in order to enhance the utilisation, production and productivity from the combination. The present paper throws light on some of the methods and approaches which are used in opencast mines for the optimisation of shovel-truck combination.
