Abstract
The inhibition efficiencies of 1-p-tolyl guanidine carbonate and some of its condensation product, i. e. 1-aryl-substituted-3-p-tolyl formamidinothiocarbamides, have been assessed at different concentrations in relation to corrosion of commercially pure aluminum (1100 alloy) in 20% nitric acid. For all the inhibitors used, maximum I. E. was found at the concentration of 500 ppm. Inhibition afforded by these inhibitors are probably due to adsorption of the molecule and/or their oxidation products. Potentiostatic, anodic & cathodic polarization studies have been appended.
