Digital controller design algorithm using time-moments and Markov parameters matching
Abstract
This paper presents an algorithm for the design of digital controllers based on the frequency-domain approximate model matching concept. The desired performance specifications are translated into a continuous-time reference model, and the digital controller is designed by matching a few initial time-moments and Markov parameters of the open-loop augmented system with those of the open-loop reference model. The use of both time-moments and Markov parameters results in better matching over the entire frequency band. The use of continuous-time reference model, instead of a discrete-time one, provides flexibility in model selection, and the approximate model matching gives computational simplicity to the algorithm. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by means of an example.
