| dc.description.abstract | In the present investigation an attempt has been made to determine whether the gangue content of the ore fines has any significant effect on the swelling behaviour of their pellets. For this purpose two Indian iron ore fines from Bailadila and Noamundi deposits were used and chemically pure iron oxide was used to prepare synthetic ore pellets. To study the effect of varying gangue content of the ore fines, pure alumina and silica powders were added. The results obtained indicate that swelling of iron ore pellets is due to growth of iron whiskers and the gangue content of the ore fines has considerable effect on the nature of whisker growth. © 1990. | |
