Global and Indian scenarios of coal mining in 21st century

Abstract

The paper presents a brief review of the various global and Indian trends emerging in different types of coal mining activities and highlights the important developments likely to prevail during 21st century. The paper also discusses the future global energy scene and the future environmental threats arising out of coal mining and the increasing use of coal, in the form of global warming and acid rain. In the end, a short account of the process of liberalisation and globalisation in India has also been included.
