Application of tris(2-2′-bipyridyl)ruthenium(II)-Nafionormosil- modified electrode in selective sensing of dopamine
Abstract
We report herein a novel Ruthenium bipyridyl-Nafion-ormosil composite material cast onto an ITO electrode and used for electrochemiluminescent (ECL) detection of dopamine. The modified electrodes are made using the homogeneous solution of [Ru(bpy)3]2+, Nafion® 117 and 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane. The encapsulated [Ru(bpy)3] 2+ showed catalyzed ECL response as compared to that of plain [Ru(bpy)3]2+-Nafion matrix. The new composite material (Ru-system) was further modulated by the introduction of gold nanoparticles within composite matrix. Quantitative relation between catalytic efficiency of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ and ECL yield has been recorded. The lowest detection limit of dopamine analysis was found to be < 0.1 μM. ©2009 IEEE.
