| dc.description.abstract | The use of admixed polymers represent a potential way of achieving the required release properties among different technological variables that influence drug release from matrix tablets. Nine batches of matrix tablets of DS were fabricated using polymers like CMC, HPMC and GG alone or in combinations using different ratios. All batches were evaluated for physical characteristics and in vitro drug release performance in pH 7.4 medium using USP II dissolution apparatus. The kinetics and mechanism of drug release were evaluated using regression coefficient analysis and Peppas exponential equation, M1/M∞ = Ktn, respectively. The results indicated that the batches prepared with admixed polymers exhibited more controlled and linear DS release profiles with zero order kinetics in comparison to batches prepared using single polymer. | |
