| dc.description.abstract | In this paper, a wideband dual resonance cavity-backed slot antenna based on substrate integrated waveguide for the fifth-generation (5G) applications are designed and simulated to cover both Europe (24.25-27.5 GHz ) and USA region (27.5-28.35 GHz). With the proper positioning of multi-resonant slots on the bottom metal cladding of the SIW cavity, the hybrid modes are generated in the frequency band of interest. These modifications can be adjusted by varying the parameters of the slots, which result in the merging of different resonance frequencies. The results show that the bandwidth of 4.6 GHz (17.24%) ranging from 24.2 GHz-28.8 GHz, a gain of 7.8 dBi and 9.2 dBi over the bandwidth, and cross-polarization level less than-35 dB have been achieved. The proposed antenna is compared in terms of antenna performances including reflection coefficient, bandwidth, gain, optimized parameter values, and radiation pattern with previously reported work in the literature. The overall volume occupied by the proposed design including feedline is 18 mm x 12 mm x 0.508 mm. © 2020 Indian Radio Science Society. | |
