A new frequency-domain method of designing digital controllers for single-input single-output systems in proposed in this paper. The objective is to design a digital controller such that the response of the resulting closed loop system matches approximately a specified response. The method uses the principle of approximate model matching in the Pade sense and leads to linear algebraic oquations in the unknown controller parameters. One illustrative example compares this method with several digital control algorithms. © 1991 IEEE.
