Urban Design: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow—A Brief Chronological Review

Abstract

Urban design, an interdisciplinary branch of design, aims to create inclusive, accessible, safe and attractive public spaces. This field has played a significant role in the development of democratic and cultural aspects of societies. This paper aims to discuss the academic and industrial journey of urban design in the western (Europe and the USA) and Indian contexts. Also, this paper will offer a brief discussion of the current and future challenges related to this branch of design.
